Title: Wonky signals
Post by: nickjtc on August 27, 2014, 07:34:26 PM
My turn signals (or indicators, depending on which part of the world you live in  :icon_wink:) have suddenly started misbehaving. When either left or right is turned on at the switch all four come on and flash simultaneously.

Anyone out there ever had this experience? Curious minds need to know.

Never experienced that but from your description I would suspect the hazard switch is shorting or stuck part engaged, remember they don't get used often and I have experienced the switch sticking so I test them regularly.

That was my first thought, so I took the switch unit apart to check. No issues there........

Looking at the wiring diagram the only other place there is an interface between the circuits is a the signal relay. Which, coincidentally, has been making clicking and buzzing noises even when the signals are not on. So I've got a new one and will play around with that next.

Otherwise it will be a bit of a  :icon_scratch:

Check the main connector plug where it joins the main loom, may need a clean.

D'oh! (To quote the immortal Homer Simpson).

If you cast your minds back to my analogue to digital thread I noted that "ended up slaving the two turn signal lights into one and using the high beam, neutral and oil pressure lights". D'oh yet again. By wiring them together it was only natural that all of the signals would come on together. Which means that most of my 'test' ride after installing the Vapor (and before I discovered the glitch) was spent with all four signals flashing when I was turning.

And yes, I hear you ask, how did you not notice that all four were flashing together during your pre-ride inspection. To which I will again respond "D'oh"!!!!
