Title: spark plug gap question
Post by: Grambo on September 09, 2015, 02:33:42 PM
couldn't find the answer in any of the archives but curious if the NGK plugs come pre-gapped for the 955i, or if I need to gap them, and secondly, what is the recommended gap for the iridium plugs?

.8 mm = .031"

.9 mm = .035"

thanks guys, sorry for the dumb questions
Chris

no spark plugs come pre gapped for anything .......................

but they generally are in the .035 range will work in any combustible gas engine .

you should always check when installing new plugs .

anything .030-.040 will work just fine in a tigger motor .
I tend to stay more towards .030 cuz the sparkler maker is pretty lame

Ok, so the .030 works a bit better than the wider gap. Gotcha ;)

Never used an ordinary plug for years and have never gapped an iridium plug, I'm sure I read somewhere they were already gapped, but then again ....

Edit:  not as straightforward as you might think:

Yup haven't gapped a plug in what must be 25 years at least.
