Battery charged OK
Turn the ignition, hit the starter
Big bag of nothing but nasty, grindy, whirry noises.
Investigation will continue tomorrow....
Hopefully, just the shitty Denso starter, and not the sprag.
Fingers crossed for you!
Not 'Ol Blue?

For your entertainment and in the hope that someone knows what is going on, I have made the following informal, yet informative movie.

Sometimes we get starty noises some times we get farty noises. :*&*
Electrical?
sounds like dodgy solenoid to me. A bit risky but the old test method was to short the solenoid terminals thereby bypassing it
Thanks Phil, Tim. I shall start with the solenoid and work from there.
Not the sprag thank goodness!
I think you are on the right track with the solenoid.
Watch your tach needle..
.evert time the solenoid farts the tach needle jumps
Steamers only do that with the tach needle on a dead or shorted battery
Thanks Mustang, I have put the battery on the proper charger. I'll see what happens later on.
Any joy?
Took the battery out charged it on the big charger and suddenly there is a working bike again. I will be testing it this week and if it works consistently I might run it up to Machynlleth.
