Hello all,
The new season is upon us and the Tiger is getting out of hybernation. I have a new coil on its way while I still ponder over replacing them with stick coils (I know I should).
While doing some more research and getting annoyed with yet another connector that had been mutilated by the PO, I came across the MotoGadget Mo.Unit (https://www.motogadget.us/products/mo-unit-blue). This looks like a very neat piece of equipment that could ease the maintenance and monitoring of the electrical circuit.
Does anyone have experience with using this unit in a Tiger? Is it worth it, or, if I want the original connectors back, am I better off with getting a new loom?
How bad is the loom?
To be honest, most of it is unknown. However, some visible connectors are showing oxidation, original plugs have been exchanged for random tidbits and there is some use of electrical tape to waterproof some connectors.
The Mo.unit looks like the sort of thing you fit AFTER sorting the loom. Think it may be worth looking at a replacement loom, even if its only to replace the bad bits with some heatshring solder sleeves. I've done a few custom bike looms, and they are not bad to use. I got Lidl ones and heatshrink too, and did find they worked suprisingly well. The Steamer loom is fairly basic compared to a modern FI/abs system, so I would sort the existing loom out using better quality connectors where possible. ( Amazon do sets of multiway waterproof connectors if your brave...)
