My restored Girly has been resting in the garage for a few years, so i decided to get her out to use her again. I noticed the rear brake reservoir was empty, so i topped up and started pumping the pedal, fluid started oozing out the calliper.
I took it off and rebuilt it but no joy same deal. I noticed the calliper at previous repairs as in one of the chambers had disintegrated around half of the top around the dust seal and had been repaired with "Quiksteel" or similar.
I have very luckily obtained a 2nd hand calliper and i hoping it is in good condition, awaiting its arrival.
My question is, is there another model of bike that used the exact same rear calliper as searching for an 885i one is bringing up differing and confusing results.
Surely theres a bolt on upgrade calliper somewhere in the world?
Parts for these bikes are getting increasingly rare as they get older. I had trouble locating a rear caliper for my 2006 955i a few years ago as it was damaged. eventually found one on eBay.
I'm not aware of any other bikes that use the same caliper as the 885, but you might try searching usaing the part number. You should be able to find the part number from World of Triumph, or Fowlers of Bristol.
Not sure for your model but I seem to remember that the calipers were the same on some Hondas as the 955 ones when I was looking for replacements. Cant recall which now as it was some time ago.
