Hey guys. I'm new here. I knew about triumphrat.net but stumbled across this site...glad I found it!
Anyway, when I bought my 99 it had a couple of very minor scrapes and I want to repair them. I have a background in auto painting but I have never done a bike. Two concerns come to mind:
1. Is a flex additive needed? I assume not, but the fairings on these bikes do flex a little at speed, so I thought I'd ask.
2. And the big one. I might be changing the color scheme and will have to paint the tank. I know with other plastic tanks (like on dirtbikes) that paint will not adhere due to outgassing of fumes through the plastic. Having not seen how the Tiger's tank is actually constructed I was concerned about this, although I realize the tank is painted from the factory. Any precautions I need to take here other than using the proper automotive primers for plastic? I plan to use PPG products, since I have had the best luck with them.

We used a special paint and it seems to have done the trick, it wasn't special for a plastic tank, just looks different !
