How worn can the chain guide/slide (not sure of proper name) be before it's an issue? What happens when it's heavily worn and how hard is it to replace on an '02.
Thanks

It's only an issue when it's worn down to the swing arm!!! but the rollers on the chain run on the bit in the middle, how much hassle to change!!! about ten seconds!! most of that is getting the sockets out to do the job!!
DId you already pull the retainer bolt or is it just missing? You should be able to pull it right off and slip a new one on. It looks like yours might be getting close to wearing through.
Bolt? What bolt?
:D Yes I pulled it to get a better look.

hello mate been reading your thread i agree with chris if its not metal on metal dont worry ...... 8)
I shall check mine as it rumbles a bit. What mileage are you at GG0?
Well my upper chain glide looks really worn beside the new one. That was easy to replace. The bottom one is giving me some grief. Can someone with a shop manual or who has replaced the bottom one on a 955i give me some insight on how to remove the old one. I've removed my centerstand, footpeg & bottom engine bolt. Is it supposed to drop out or is there something else I'm missing?
Help!!

I've ordered the Triumph Manwell (keh?) in a fit of enthusiasm. It should come tomorrow so I'll let you know ASAP.

Thanks. I'm going to head over to the dealers and talk with the mechanic. I need to get this sorted since I'm riding to Alaska in less than 48 hours.

Arrrgghhhh!! I stopped at Blackfoot Motor Sports (My Dealer) on the way into work this morning. Spoke with Les the Triumph grumpy guru mechanic guy. He says you pretty much have to drop the swingarm. I pressed for details but he's not too willing to give up info on the DYI stuff. I booked an appointment for when I get back from Alaska. I think I'll get a shop manual and try it myself beforehand. anyone have a manual for sale??
