Title: Music to Speed By? Give Me Your Input
Post by: HappyMan on January 13, 2008, 04:31:07 AM
So how many of you load up the iPod with songs that drive you to ride a little faster than you probably should? 8)  I don't need much encouragement but I'll admit that while out in the country it's a little tempting.....It's also a good "Stay awake in the cage" list.  I'd love to hear what some of the rest of you are listening to so I can add to my list.

Here's a sample of songs that drive me to exceed the speed limit.

Angel City
Can't Shake It

Audioslave
Original Fire

Black Stone Cherry
Lonely Train

Blackfoot
Train, Train

The Clash
Should I Stay or Should I Go

Creed
Freedom Fighter

Day of Fire
Run

Deep Purple
Highway Star

Disturbed
Just Stop

Foo Fighters
The Last Song

Franz Ferdinand
You're The Reason I'm Leaving

Good Charlotte
Walk By

Judas Priest
You've Got Another Thing Comin'

Kaiser Chiefs
Everyday I Love You Less And Less

Krokus
Out of Control

Metallica
Fuel

Nickelback
Animals

Oingo Boingo
Nothing Bad Ever Happens

RED
Breathe Into Me

Talking Heads
Life During Wartime

Rush
Limelight

Timo Maas
To Get Down

I've found the sounds of sirens will slow you down; the sounds of silence will speed you up; And the dinner bell will bring you to a stop!

Other than that .... Sirius radio fills the need for noise,,
aside from wind buffeting, road noise, trucks, etc, etc!

Great site!  Post whatever else you've got, I'd love to see them.

As for sirens slowing you down....no doubt.  But when you are out in the western planes of MN where you can see an intersection coming for a mile and everything around you it's a nice place to light her up!  I'm not advocating speed but unless you tear this thread apart and take it down a tangent you probably understand the songs and mood I'm speaking of.

A famous story about Conductor Oscar Levant: once tried to explain a speeding ticket this way: "You can't possibly hear the last movement of Beethoven's seventh and go slow."

I have to agree.

A song with a bike reference is a must hear.  I'll check it out.  Thanks for the  input.

I listen to the glorious howl of the tiggers triple.  The more I twist it, the more it HOWLS,  the more it H  O  W  L  S  the more I twist it!  It's a vicious circle.  But cover it up with music?  never.

I agree with a lot of that.  I love to listen to my bike but it depends on my mood.  If I've had a long hard day at work sometimes I need a "Full Throttle" music list.  Not that the bike doesn't give me an adrenaline rush but music is my life and my living.  It pays for my motorcycle so it's pretty high on my list of priorities....I do, however, many times just listen to the bike.

Picked up the new (Oct. 07) Annie Lennox album today.  She's still got it.  Some really good stuff worth a listen.

EDIT -  Sorry, album title is Songs of Mass Destruction.

Shame the idiots at her record company (Sony) didn't realise that before they dropped her in January!

Record companies are a dying breed.  They served a good purpose until they became greedy, unnecessary pimps.

While I don't have an ipod while driving (I drive for a livin ya know) I make sure I always have a few CD's nearby.

Its a pretty broad spectrum to be sure.

Butch Walker and/or the Marvelous 3
Cowboy Mouth

The Animatrix soundtrack
Fight Club soundtrack

I'll even pop in some country from time to time!
This new Garth Brooks hits cd
Can't argue with some George Strait
The man in black deserves a spot in the cd holder
