If your DVD player won't play the UK zone (2?) you can contact the manufacturer of the player and they'll give you a code to key in that will enable you to play all zones.

My player wouldn't play UK DVD's that my family sent out to Australia; but Philips gave me the code to key in, and now my player plays DVD's from any zone.

You could also Google 'DVD hacks' where you might get the code.
