Title: Alternator stator burned.
Post by: german on April 17, 2008, 09:25:14 PM
Hola,
After some events in relation with flat battery during long rides, finally, I confirmed that the problem is the alternator stator, one of the phases is burned. The phase is not grounded.

I want you know if some of you has (recoiled) repaired the stator and what is your experience.

Thanks for your comments.

This came up recently...

Read McGuiver's post about 1/3 the way down, relating to Custom Rewind in Alabama...

I was at 800kms from my house. to return, i needed to remove all the electrical users and swapping the battery between bikes.

This happened on my new 07 Roadie after only 3000 miles.  replaced under warranty.  Another Roadie in the Atlanta Metro had the same problem.

DO the re-wire modification!!!  Eliminate the wiring harness, and wire the stator directly to the regulator and battery!  After 3 stators (2 regulators) in my '03, I figured it out.    :x

Search the forums, there's info on it.

The Mexican dealer does not want to apply the Warranty. they argument that  the electrical accessories are out of warranty.

Yeah, I guess a 2005 Tiger would be out of warranty by now.  Welcome to my world.

By all accounts from McGuiver, Custom Rewind can probably rebuild yours better than new... http://www.customrewind.com/ (http://www.customrewind.com/)

now, I am too angry, last friday I found the part in the Detroit, US dealer, yesterday, I was with the Mexican dealer to pick the bike up, when I check it,I found the bike left side damaged , of course a lot of parts broken.
Now, I need to wait more than 20 days to have repaired the bike.

I will appreciate if some of you have any contact in the Triumph factory in UK in order to send a letter?

I wrote to Triumph re the very poor service I received from a dealer - the person I corresponded with was Ashley Lovett, Warranty Coordinator & Technical Advisor. This was a couple of years ago so of course he may have moved on.

The address is Triumph Motorcycles Ltd, Normandy Way, Hinckley, LE10 3BZ.

HTH.
