Title: Replacing fork seals?
Post by: sloburban on April 24, 2009, 12:28:06 AM
My forks are starting to leak on my 95 tiger so I just ordered the fork seals and the service manual, since I don't have one.  I am hoping the manual covers this procedure.  Any tips would be appreciated.

I did a search on "forks" and "fork seals" but did not find a thread on the procedure. What I did find was using a 10 weight oil, 1 inch spacer.  Still not sure where these go but hopefully will figure it out when I see the manual.

Do I need to buy the seal driver to set the seals or is there a cheaper way of doing this?

Do I need to remove the forks?

Does the oil need to be transmission fluid or just a generic hydraulic oil?

What am I getting myself into?

The service manual will cover it.

Go buy the seals and some fork oil (it's not hydraulic or tranny fluid).

You will have to remove the forks from the bike to do this.
