Anyone ever take off the back of the stock can and drill some holes in the inner piece? I'm thinking of trying it to increase output and make it sound a little throatier. Worst case I can weld the holes back shut, but thought I'd ask first. TIA!
Interesting thought. Wouldn't that mess with the fuel mapping though?
Probably but I'm planning on going with the off-road tune anyway. I'd like to end up with the Thunderbike full system, just can't swing it now. Might be worth a shot.....I think I'm going to wait until I get it on the road though so I've got something to compare it to.
Good thinking.
I purchased a barely used stock muffler and gave that idea a shot. Took off the end cap and drilled some holes in the exposed end plate. My impressions................don't bother. No noticeable difference in seat of the pants performance. With end cap off had a little more growl. With end cap on it sounded weird. Put the stocker back on and let it be. Besides after about 500 miles and with a full face the last thing I want is more noise.
Yes, 4 years ago. I get compliments on the sound also. Reduced backpressure. No more popping on deceleration. Three 5/8's holes approx. 17 into the can. 3/8ths in the end plate itself. Presently four there. If you feel you've gone too far they can be plugged with screws.....I'll post pics when the sun comes up. IF it does!
I'd be interested in seeing your pictures if you're still game. I didn't quite follow your description. It's going to have to be FREE FARKLES for me for a while as I was laid off Thursday.
Sent you a PM Shawn.
