Hey Stretch, could you make this into the definitive colour poll? I tried, but I exceeded the poll option limit.

In an effort to be inpartial...  and have a bob each way

Steamers in BRG
Girlies in Orange or Black  (even thou mine is silver)
Roadies in Blue

The Caspian Blue on the Girlies blows me away, I love the way those bikes look painted up like that!

Unfortunately it's just not as fast as the Aluminum Silver ones, so that's why I had to buy my 05 in that color.......

Like henry Ford said, "Ýou can have any colour you like as long that it is black''!

BRG in Steamers.  Any other color just looks faked.

Lucifer Orange in Girlies.  If you must ride a chick, make sure she's an evil one.  Plus all the other colors look like Easter eggs to me. :P

Black in Roadies.  The Darth Peach.  That's all I've got to say about that.

you will notice that the only color that has been available every year since the beginning is BLACK
(diablo black and jet black are the same color BTW, 97's had a diablo black also )
BLACK is the Tiger flagship color , it's also the sexiest and fastest color

no black in 2005.

I like black. You can't go wrong with the colour as its always current. My only gripe with black is that is looks great clean and terrible dirty

My three favourite colours:

1. Lucifer Orange Girlies
2. BRG Girlies/Steamers
3. Kakhi Green Steamers

honourable mention:

Kakhi (desert tan) Steamers

Black is not listed as an "official" color for 2005 but I am pretty sure  I have seen a Black 2005 Tiger before , maybe not , who knows :?:

Triumph does some special colors on stuff every year . Ones that don't get mentioned in the brochures

In 2002 there were three colors of bonnevilles
Sky Blue w/ silver
Green w/silver
and Ugly brick red with silver
But look at the pic........ here is my 2002 Standard Bonneville in 'Cobalt Blue w / silver' from the factory
It was a limited run , something like 250 units and no mention of it in any of the brochures , it had something to do with the Queen' I think .........

Girlies - Black is the coolest.  Silver is the next best as it takes less maintenance.  The Caspian Blue is gorgeous but I think it looks out of place on the girl.  It's like Ugly Betty in a bikini..... Now Lucifer Orange makes sense on a Girly.

The steamer looks best in black and dessert khaki.

Now that you have my opinion this should put the question to rest.....

I'm sure there are many motorcycle models from every manufacturer with some kind of limited run feature. Helps to sell motorcycles when the buyer thinks they have something a bit more unique. However, I have not heard of any pre-2007 Tigers having a limited run paint job. But I could be wrong.

What I did notice, however, is that Triumph tends to "use up" parts before moving to something newer. Take my 2005 Girly for example... it was an "early model" and got the earlier fuel tank with the double plastic fuel fittings and the exposed fuel pressure regulator (minus the regulator hose!). It also has the earlier lower-cut style front fairing. I think when Triumph ran out of the old parts, they began adding the newer tank parts in the mid to late 2005 model production run. So technically, I have a 2004-2005 crossover model (like Cos's orange Tiger above). I guess ours were a limited production run.  :D

The same thing with the engine cases... Triumph built only 3000 model year 2005 Tigers.... but when demand continued to be high, they simply started building the 2006 model earlier than normal and added the newer 1050 style cases. I guess there was no sense producing more older style cases when the Roadie was already in the design/test stages.

Perhaps its the same thing with paint colour? A few earlier/later production run models could have been badged as another model year? Was that pretty colbalt blue colour an option in 2001 or 2003?

Perhaps some early 2005 models were given black plastics because there was some leftover black plastics from 2004. I don't know.

Now, back to paint colour favourites...

They certainly do , even the Triumphs of old from the 50's and 60's were the same way , all the old parts were used up 1st before moving on ......

nope none of the model year Bonnevilles listed a Cobalt Blue as a color option , not even the T-100's , in 03 they had a sapphire blue T100 that was close in color but not the same paint scheme . The Cobalt Blue  came out the same time as the Silver Jubilee retro bonneville did .

Alright,

At first blush the roulette green may take a little getting used to but after gazing at it for a couple of days it grows on you. I really like the BRG on steamers, the roulette green on the girls, and black on the roadies.

my 2 cents,

It has to be the Orange one, specifically, Lucifer Orange 2003/2004 (with the black stripes as opposed to the silverish ones).

Looks amazing!

And no, I'm not biased :D:D

Since Kurgan is Hijacking his own thread...
Using up (and odd) parts across a model range seems like a pretty common thing across the British motorcycle industry and not just towards its end when most marques had common owners and manufacturers.  If you follow any Q&As threads on some of the older bikes for sale this can lead to some amusing comments by purests and owner users and riders.

... and pretty as all those colours are....

British Racing Green kicks butt. My Lucifer Orange is a close 2nd. I'd LOVE flat black w/no decals. I saw one hear once. Maybe I'll try it... :D

That's the bike I want right now.  Blazing Orange ABS with all factory hard bags.
Title: roadie
Post by: ccherry on June 03, 2009, 04:01:45 PM
personally wouldn't get the factory bags as they have very limited storage capacity.  also prefer the swmotech quick release racks to the stock when i want to go nekkid or with just top case as in the pic......but that's just me.  evidentally lots of folks like the factory bags and you do know that there is a $1000 allowance on purchase of new ones right now don't you????  so stop drooling and go buy one!!
Title: Pimento Red for Steamers, Black or Silver for Girlies
Post by: ericw94061 on January 18, 2010, 07:10:57 AM
My '95 Tiger was Pimento Red and it drew compliments all the time as being a gorgeous color.  I'm looking for a 2006 so am partial to the black (to match my Hayabusa), tho the silver is very classy looking.

There is only one actual color for me on a Triumph: BRITISH RACING GREEN. So it seems my next (future) Tiger has to be a -05...
What color (repainted) do you think my first Triumph (a -67 Bonneville) had back in the early -70ties :?:
