This past week I was in Des Moines, Iowa USA for an architect show . .
I had about 2 hours to kill one afternoon before an awards party...
so I ventured across the street where a few 'brew halls' had claimed space.
I was walking down the sidewalk and there was a British flag painted on a
window. I then saw the sign for the 'ROYAL MILE'. I had to go in.
And there it was. The exact image I envisioned for an old English pub!
They had brought the bar back from GB. The taps were the kind you pump. And they had 25 British beers 'ON TAP' with another 40 or so bottled. Twas a handsome sight!
Oh.... and they served sheppards pie!
I think I'll be leading some Triumph riders there this coming spring...
maybe a winter 'cage' run.

I could do that :)

Hey TT - next time you're in DSM give me a shout - would be great to meet you. I'm guessing you were at the function at the AIA office? They're in the same building I work in.
The Royal Mile is a good place - great Scotch selection as well. And the next time you're there, go upstairs and check out the Red Monk, specializing in Belgian beers.

Do the have Leffe??? :D
OK, no tiger connection, but the best adverts ever.

One of my favourite beers, planes and adverts in one hit. Magnificent.
I am sooooooooooo thirsty right now.
Des Moines is a constant stop for me. I need to catch up with anyone riding a Tiger to Des Moines so let's not be shy!
My arm is easily twistable!
Yes, Shawn. We need to get together. It's been a busy couple of weeks. Perhaps a ride this weekend?
Gotta head up to the cabin Sat to pull the boats out then to Alex on Sun morning to hit the walleyes.....they're biting! Otherwise I'd be up for it.
Priorities!! Give me a ring when you find time and let's get the Tiggers out. Just got back from Northern Missouri and it was amazing!
Will do! Looking forward to it.
And beer should really be involved to keep with the post......I'm really thirsty right now. Nice post!

Can't avoid it, I live at the other end of the road from the brewery :D That can is actually the Vietnamese brewed stuff. They have a beer called "Ba Ba Ba" (http://www.vietnam720.com/Virtual-Objects/333-Beer-Vietnam.134.html) nothing to do with sheep, translated it means 333.
Those Spitfire ads are brilliant, I am going to email that link to a couple of German mates
Sin
If you google it you will find a load of others they did around cricket and rugby which might be a bit lost on those not familiar with the peculiar ways of our little island.
Great ads! More here:

They put a good one out just before the ashes. Had the hand pull and beside it was the head of a kangaroo with a Hitler mustache. Caption read..."for the next three months we have a new enemy".
Thanks guys :icon_salut that cheered me up no end and took the sting out of having to sit near a bunch of loutish drunk Aussies at the MotoGP in Sepang at the weekend, not very PC but I was quietly humming the overture from Gallipoli to keep my temper in check.
If anybody was watching I was three rows back from the two Scottish flags hanging at the start / finish line and dripping wet
