Title: Dead speedo cable
Post by: 97tiger885 on February 16, 2010, 07:27:10 PM
I had to replace the speedo cable a few weeks ago at 60,000 miles.  I am curious what the typical life of a speedo cable is.  Anyone else replaced one and at what mileage?

have replaced ones at only 10 k on a customer bike ,
had one go on wifes steamer at 30k tigger 2 is still running original at 65k(now I'm jinxed for sure  :ImaPoser  )

It's more like a crap shoot
and the funky bend they take from the drive to wrap around the fork tube doesn't help matters either .

Mine popped shortly after I got it but with no reliable history I couldn't say, although it wasn't dry or worn that I could see when I took it apart.

There is a Honda equivelant, Africa Twin equivelant (http://tigertriple.com/forum/index.php/topic,4017&start=60)
