Title: Do you see road signage as 'gospel' or 'advisory'?
Post by: Nick Calne on February 19, 2010, 06:22:40 PM

KK - Ha love it.  Wasn't he in ZZ Top?

Coach - I can honestly say I have no idea how you find out if a walrus is gay!  Maybe ask the walrus if it likes West End musicals?

try this ...

If the walrus goes for the second bike you know it's batting for the other side.

I'm just laughing imagining the Council meeting that ok'd the making and wording of the original sign.

And it's probably just because some crusty old Walrus blew a seal on the local wharf...

lol..... lets not forget the word "gay" as we use it now is relatively new definition in its long linguistic history.   There are two possibilities here.

Did a quick search and there was a lady with the last name of Gay who studied Walrus....  Not knowing where the sign is from it could be a clan she studied traced to that area and earned the nick name of Gay Walrus's.

Orrrrr... it simply was that "Gay" was used in it's previous definition on that sign cause it is less letters than "Frolicking  Fun and Happy"

the internet 'buzz ' is it's a photochop

the only original word on the sign is 'jumping'

the fonts don't quite match if you look close

two words photochopped in to form 4 words out of three... can't buy that.

This would mean there was three words only on that sign before chopping.  If it were three words only the center word would fall on top of the the scratch that presently resides between some words in the 4 word configuration.

IMHO if it was chopped it was original a four word sign and one word (Gay)  was chopped in over some other word like a name of a Walrus species

believe what you will
the original sign said :

NO
JUMPING
FROM
 BRIDGE

photoshop is an amazing program

you can alter anything and make it seem believeable

well that makes since.    duhhh

Least I was right on one thing... there was originally four words LOL

  why I was so stupid too; one miss read your post that jumping was ONLY original word and ; two, not question the jumping walrus part being original... hhmmm ... ok... so I hang out with gullible kids too much LOL.

hmmm.... so if I'm of American Indian heritage does this make me.

It's not the original pic, but notice the code on the bottom of the sign.
