I've not got a copy yet, but have been pointed in the direction of this...

as it involves drinking tea and a trip from England to Cape Town on a Tiger, it sounds worth a look :D
Neil,
Two very good books worth a read are by a young lady called Lois Pryce. Bored with her office based life, she upped and went adventuring. Only big enough to ride a 250cc Yamaha trail bike she first did Alaska to the southern tip of S America financed only by her credit card. the money she made off the book allowed her to do a second trip top to botttom in Africa. Both trips mostly alone except for friends she made along the way. She's more balls than most blokes - I want to have her babies!! And she made Ewan and Charlie's heavily supported trips look like a film set.
there's a bit about the books here:

Just be aware you should read Lois on the Loose first as it seets the scene; the review is in the wrong order. Red Tape and White Knuckles was the second book.
yep I've read the first one, bought the 2nd for t'other half for her birthday, so I'm waiting on a look at that.. :D
