Title: Smokey at cold start
Post by: Hossboro on July 27, 2010, 12:19:05 AM
I'm not overly worried but should I be !   This is my first Triumph and I'm not exactly what you could call mechanically minded (not for want of trying though lol)  hoping someone might put my mind at rest on this one though.
When starting her from cold (choke on) tends to produce what I think is a lot of blue smoke (slightly more that i'm used to on any other bike), only from cold start though, is this ok or should I be checkig anything..
oil levels seem ok but maybe need more miles to get a better indication.

The most likely reason is valve stem seals. I wouldn't say it's critical but probably something you should slate for the next major service. Replacing them is not a heartache, but will require removing the head . You can get a complete engine gasket set for 127 pounds. I guess you better start brushing up on those mech skills :D
