Title:
Post by: TigerTrax on August 20, 2010, 06:08:10 PM
This shall be a STREAK .....

.... a true term used to refer to a group of tigers  . . .

NOT the same reference made in the song by Ray Stevens . . .

Thanks Jim for reminding me.....

6.5 hours away.... but Im tempted to meet some of yall even though I would have to take my Golf.  buttttt....

is there like a Bike run too?  If so what direction?  If your loop goes west some it might cut some of my travel time if I met up with some of you at the furtherst point in the westward travel in that run.  hmmmmm.

:icon_scratch
That's OK, it's 10 hours for 4-5 of us;
a good 13 hours for 1 from Central Nebraska
and 4 hours for 3 more from KC;
If Ken comes from NH..... that's 25 hours.
Randy has to trailer from 3 hours away..... Adult beverage runner!

Leave at 8:00am and arrive at 3:00pm so you can have Fri night dinner
with us. Better let us know you are coming....

Bike Run?.... we ain't no Hog chapter... the roads around Jasper are
Tiger Heaven. Look hard.... you may see your license plate in front of you!

PS... I guarantee you will love this place..... ask Evil Betty....

I was a little thrown by this last year too.  It was my first group motorcycle thing and I didn't know what to expect.  I was used to hearing about people riding and leaving in some mass group and riding a set route.

But the Jasper area has too many great roads to do that.

What we did last year was ride in, and check into our hotel.  Met at the HUB dinner for dinner and ran into several Tiger rides.  The next morning well all road into the Cliff House for Breakfast at about 8:30 if memory servers.  And from there we asked around till we found some folks that had a planned route we liked and they didn't mind a couple newer riders extra.

We had a good time.

I sold my 06 Tiger last year, always wondering why I did that.  Hmmm.

Been to Ark twice lately ths summer, and both times spent some time south of Harrison, south of the Buffalo River, riding my WR250R on backroads/gravel.  If you find yourself heading that way, look up a little country store at the corner of hwy 123 & 16.

Young girl owns it, makes a bunch of scratch made cin rolls, sticky buns, etc.  I think the area is called Sand Gap.  We came in from the east on hw16, very little cage traffic.  Highly recommended. (all pavement).

And of course everyone knows about the Oark cafe. rate 9.5

Check out this thread for places to eat..

You know, Jasper is the unofficial home of the Tigers....
The folks there really like us and we appreciate their hospitality.

Those who have not made the trek.... get ready to step back in time, slow down, and breathe deep.

If you want a chalet... call Nancy ASAP. Teri has space at the campground. And any late comers... we'll find a place for you.

Let's all try to arrive by 6:30pm Fri sow e can all be together for a Fri nite dinner... nothin fancy. Just good friends enjoyin Ozarks.

It would be great to see you all again.  Last years "Streak" took us on some of the best twisties I've experienced.  The father-in-law is going to be back on the boat, and I'm behind on projects at work and at home because I've already put 8000 miles on my Tiger this summer.  So, I'm afraid I can't make it.  :(  Have a great time!
Title:
Post by: brad1098 on August 26, 2010, 06:04:10 AM
Dang Tom, you seemed like the only sane one there last year

I did the math.......3 on 3 off.  Don't ask why I retain that, but I knew the father in law was out.

I did get my led brake light after following you that misty morning to the Cliff House.  You never know what a Tiger looks like from the tail till you follow one.

8k miles this summer, thats awesome.  I probably only put 800 on in this extreme heat.

We will cross paths again. Cheers

Hey EB, let me know when you are planning to head down, maybe we can make the run together.  Right now, I am targeting to leave about 1:30-2:00 and only plan to stop for fuel as I would like to get in before it is too dark.  If my 1:00 conf call gets cancelled, I could pull out earlier, but can't plan on that at this point.

Jason
Title:
Post by: EvilBetty on September 08, 2010, 07:47:22 AM
I'm cool with anyone from the area riding down with us, but Patty will be on her Buell blast.  She has about a 80 mile range before she has to stop for fuel.  Sometimes we grab a drink and hit the restroom before rolling on.

We ride with an intercom system, but I also have FRS capability if we need it.

When we went last year, we left early enough to stop for a late breakfast in Clinton, MO.

It was a cold windy ride down and we needed to grab some coffee and warm up.

Post by: jsingraham on September 10, 2010, 04:06:18 AM
We can touch base the week of to figure out the details.  You may be leaving earlier than me anyway and if so, I might catch up with you along the way.  If I can leave earlier, I will, and don't mind more stops, just want to try and hit the Hub/Chalet before it is too dark.

Jason

Yeah we'd like to get down there early enough that we can unload at the hotel, unwind a bit, then ride up to the HUB for dinner.

Title:
Post by: TigerTrax on September 12, 2010, 11:49:40 PM
Right now we have 13 definitely  'IN':
3 from Nebraska
1 from NC
1 from AR
3 from IL
5 from MO  ( The Show-Off state )

We have 2 hanging on the vine and 2 that
probably will not make it.

This reminds me so much of the very first Ride-In event it's uncanny! Randy Wallace and I were there at4:45 pm ( he arrived 9:30 AM !!! He was by himself ALL DAY!)
By 11:30 pm we had 21 riders and 21 Tigers from 7 different states.

Our guide had been called up on Air Force duty... we didn't have a clue
as to where to go.... so we 'winged-it'. We rode a little, stopped & talked a little. Our last night we took a dinner cruise on the Lake of the Ozarks and someone said, ". . . ya know, this could be a fun thing to do every year . . ." And with that said... everyone said, "Let's just do that!" . . . and so it goes.
Title:
Post by: EvilBetty on September 13, 2010, 11:16:08 PM
Rode a R.A.T. ride yesterday at Engle Motors.  Pat (who rides a 2006 Tiger) was telling me about their open house coming up on 10/8-9.  I told him that was the weekend of the Tiger - Jasper ride-in.  He wasn't aware and was a little bummed out by it.

It was kind of funny.  RAT ride with 13 riders... 5 of them tigers.  :headbang

Unfortunately I don't think I was able to talk any of them into riding to Jasper.
Title:
Post by: brad1098 on September 15, 2010, 03:26:40 AM
You weren't able to talk them into riding to Jasper because.............they haven't been there.  Or they haven't heared about it enough.

Their loss.
Title:
Post by: EvilBetty on September 15, 2010, 07:08:39 AM
Well one was facing a potential funds issue.  2 had to work at the open house of the dealership.  And the other 2 I didn't get to talk directly to, but I think they heard me discussing it at lunch.

If you are still considering joining us... LET ME KNOW....

There is still a chalet left if 4-6 of you want to share ... it's less than the motel.

AND.... The HUB may have some rooms.....

AND  Shady Oak has plenty of camping.

Weathers fine in the Ozarks this time of year!!

It's a Gold Wing group.

I was told today a guy coming to our event just got a room at the HUB.

You really should try the Chalet. I think Nancy will hold it and give you time to fill it...... they are really nice.... and right at the HUB.

Ok, finally got squared away to make this run and managed to book a TRIPPLE room at the HUB (they're only charging for a double). If anyone is looking for a room to split I'm open to it (I'm an old guy, non-smoker).

Coming in around 7:00 PM or so Friday evening, headed out Sunday morning... Riding an '08 Blazing Orange.

Sorry to confirm late, but there were a lot of irons in the fire to sort out before this would work...

See you there!

I still need to confirm that Terri has a patch of ground for one tent and one old Tiger. I won't be able to make the Friday evening get together though as I'll be leaving KC after work so with a tail wind might get in around 11pm. (yes, I'm a slow arse!) :D

We're leaving around 9 or 10:00 AM.  With stops every 100 miles (Buell Blast tank capacity) We'll probably take just short of 6 hours to get down there.

Probably taking 7 to 13 to Springfield to 65 and the 7.

This was the best video I had with several riders in view.  Some how I got the camera off level for most of these.  Premeire wouldn't let me export to the size and quality I wanted last night, and you tube hacked off my wonderful sound editing and soundtrack job, so I did the best I could with their library of songs to choose from.   :x

I could not be more surprised...
A quick get together and we have riders from   FL, SC, OH, IL, WA, AR, MO, NE. I think all had a good time.

Special kudos to those long distance riders from FL, SC, & OH. It's bun burner and believe me I appreciate it.

The weather was so purrrfect one could take a lazy ride and absorb the scenery and bright sunshine and forget the world.

Evil.... nice job on the video. Thanks... those are always special.

Randy, Jim ... thanks for your help....

We have new members in our family.... and that's a good thing.

To all who attended .. new & old... it's a great group of folks.

PS:
Recently I realized I have a watch that I rarely wear. So I cleaned it up good... gave it a good bath.. and will part with it to a good home. Runs great and should have plenty of time left on it.... let me know if you need a watch ( leather band ). Oh it's a TIMEX  ... still ticking!!!!

Yes maybe next year I'll recognize you on the first or second greeting.

I am really horrible with names and faces.  But if you had rattled off your social security number I probably would remember that 10 years from now...
