Quote from: "blacktiger"OK guys, I've taken my RATs out for a ride and we had Sunday roast at the Golden Swan. The Guv'nor is bike friendly and said "no problem" to us lot camping there for a weekend. He has other bike clubs staying there at various times.
So, I've got to wait until the new year to see what my work roster looks like then I'll suggest a weekend that we can do this in 2011.

Don't want to cause an international incident or anything.....
but is that gate wide enough for Big Jason's Steamer after he's packed for a 2-day trip?
. . . . lovely fence though . . .

Hi guys, who's up for Blacktiger's suggestion of the Golden Swan or any other suggestions?
It'd be great to get something in the diary!
How's the work roster looking Blacktiger?
All the best,
Mat-tiger1.
If it doesn't clash with my Croatia trip I will be there

+1 before my 'collegues' book all the weekends off! :D
Slap me down if I'm being dumber than the offspring of a village idiot and TV weather girl, but I'm not clear where the Golden Swan in question is...
Do you mean the one near Pewsey, Wiltshire?

Sounds like something Milosevic might have said
Brilliant Mat! That's less than 15miles away, therefore any weekend is good for me. In fact just give me a call on the day and I'll pop over and buy a round.
Fine by me, good riding round there
We need to pick a date, my diary is filling up fast. Somebody start a date poll.....
Count me in. I can go and visit me old mum at the same time. Looks like a great place.

Ok lads, sounds like we're getting somewhere! If there are no other suggestions, we'll go with Blacktiger's suggestion of the Golden Swan in Pewsey in Wiltshire. & date dependant, We have these guys that are definately interested...
Mat-tiger1
John Stenhouse
Bixxer Bob
NeilD
nicalne &
flaco
With these guys as possibles?
NKL (If it doesn't clash with Croatia) &
Timbox2
Shall we try & bolt a month down first?
July worked for me last year & I can imagine, it's nice down there at that time of year? (not a local. nicalne, can you help?)
Any other date suggestions? & has anyone heard from Blacktiger? It would be nice to get him on board, seeing as it was his suggestion in the 1st place!
All the best,
Mat-tiger1.
Put me down as a possible :)
I worked at Corsham, which is not too far away, for three years. Nice riding and weather as pretty much the same as anywhere, I thik you just have to pick the most popular date, run with it and hope the weather is ok.
July is tight for me at the moment, but I suggest we get it in before the school hols. For what it's worth, I can't do 2nd-3rd or 30-31st which leaves 9-10, 16-17 and 23-24th.
July sounds good. All dates free for me at the mo.
The only time there is ever a problem is Wiltshire is when the likes of the hippies and David Icke (all strangely from Brimingham usually) turn up for the summer solstice and tend to take all the camping near the major stone circles. That's the 21st of June and they will be gone by the following weekend at the latest. Or I shoot them.
The only other thing that might be either good to avoid or possibly good to attend while you're here is Pewsey Music festival 6th August.
If the weather's fine I'll pop down there and check it out / get some photo's / prices etc this weekend.
Actually the kids are away this weekend. Perhaps I'll take the time to check all the beers while I'm there! Wouldn't want you guys arriving without complete certainty on this point.
Ride report to follow.
If the date is right I might be able to nip down from Scotland. :D
Andy.

I'm fine for all of these dates at the moment, but, clock's a ticking! & we don't want our work collegues beating us to the holiday bookings, do we?
Personally, i favour the weekend of the 16th-17th July. :eusa_dance
Now we have:-
Mat-tiger1
John Stenhouse
Bixxer Bob
NeilD
nicalne &
flaco
All up for it :thumbsup

Do we have any other suggestions on Month / dates lads?? :?:
Calling Blacktiger! Where are you :?:....
Ok gents. I went to have a look at the Golden Swan earlier today. I had to go in the car I'm afraid as I broke my left big toe on Thursday and changing gear is still too painful on the bike.
The Golden Swan looks very good. Simple and no frills but good. I had good chat with the landlord who was really helpful.
Camping is on the field behind the pub and is a very reasonable £4 per person. There are no bookings yet in July and up to 20 people is no problem at all. We need to give around a fortnight's notice. A little more if there are more of us. There are a couple of B&B rooms available too.
The landlord did have a couple of questions, which we asked me to relay.
1. We have too many people coming to the pub who don't drink enough beer. Do they (i.e. us triumph tiger types) like drinking beer?
2. We have a lot of 18 and 19 year old girls doing their Duke of Edinburgh award camping in the summer. They sometimes use the men's washroom. Is that OK?
I had to go for a little rest with a cold towel wrapped around my head, but afterwards I said that would be fine and we promise to drink plenty beer if we come. I trust that's OK with everyone.
Here are some photo's:
The pub. Typical Wiltshire stuff. There are probably around a hundred similar within 20 miles.

The Landlord. Quite a character! Tried the Wadsworth Horizon and can confirm it was wholly satisfactory.

The best thing is that there is plenty top riding roads in every direction! Just a bit of everything, fast, slow, windy, views, sights, little traffic and not many traffic cops.
Great scouting Nick :thumbsup
Sounds too good to be true :o I guess we'll have to work our way accross the bar to see what suits the best :friday :occasion14 :new_all_coholic Lol....
Well then Gentlemen, there we have it :!: What's the consensus of opinion :?:
Shall we get some dates in the diary :?: :?: :?:
Over to you lads
Looks good to me :)
Ok, I'll put up a poll for dates. Anyone strongly objecting can ask Mustang to delete it, no hard feelings either way.

Hi guys. Sorry I didn't spot this earlier. Thanks to Matt for PMing me.
When I visited, the Landlord was positive, telling me he gets a lots of bike clubs staying there over the year. Good news about July being free.
Answers to the above questions :-
1) I drink lots.
2) Hmmmmm! Hello girly. My tent's this way............
Trouble is.......I have a problem which is that the roster at work is rumoured to be getting a big shake up in May. So, I can't really plan anything for after that yet.
So, I suggest you plan this to suit yourselves and If I can attend I will.
P.S. I've posted a link to here on there.....

Got to spread the word.
This sounds like a do'er for me. Any date proposed is good. I have a couple of mates that are into Triumphs but have the speed tripple, bonneville etc. Is this exclusively a Tiger rally? I'd only be able to camp the Saturday night, ride down from Cheshire on Sat am so if there are any ride outs / planned activities...let me know so I stand a better chance with the young maidens with my ugly mug in your absence. :)

Just let them know that we won't be waiting for them to catch up on the dirt bits...........
Guys
Went there last year with Black Tiger, Good Beer Food and camp site flat and quiet . Welfare facilities not brilliant but hey for one night or so will do for most.
I would love to join in the fun :occasion14
Hey, can you give me directions to there from Texas? Do I turn right or left at Oklahoma? :?

Yes the more the merrier.
I did create some routes around the area taking in such sights as Stone Henge, Caen Locks, Avebury, Salisbury Plain with some dirt involved if it's dry enough. All on Garmin Mapsource.....if I can find them again.
Seems we're not allowed to attach .gdb Garmin files.
Quote from: "19dajudge"Hey, can you give me directions to there from Texas? Do I turn right or left at Oklahoma? :?
As Bugs Bunny once said ; "I shoulda toyned left at alberqoykey" (spelt phonetically)
If dates are right I'm in please.
Outrunner.. can I come down with you??
BIG BILL
Right. Bad news....ish.
Landlord of the Golden Swan just phoned me back and says they have a booking pencilled in for a group of trail riders for that weekend. Although they have plenty of camping space, he doesn't think their kitchen would be able to cope with two groups eating in the evenings.
So, as it's only a pencilled in booking, he's going to call the other lot and find out if they want to make it a concrete booking.
He said he hopes to know by this weekend and will call me to let me know the result.
We could, of course, promise to eat somewhere lunch times and do the camp cooking thing and just drink lots of their excellent beer in the evenings.
Or we could go for another date.
Anyway, lets wait until he calls back.
I'm happy to cook my own or go elsewhere. As long as he has no objection to serving beer, I don't care !!
Quote from: "blacktiger"...Or we could go for another date.
Offering me a chance to duck out of another fording eh?
Seriously, I can't make any other date around that time, but if it has to change, it has to change...
I will go anywhere, but I can also offer a pub up here who will cater for a large group with curries and full english. and if he has no room on the grass you can kip on the pub floor, he is that chilled.
He (Jimmy) is also cheap for Bikers.
And I can take you on rides around the Border counties.... Luvly jubbly
Not my pub but a biking friend and we do have some fantastic roads ( not sure about fording though) :(
BIG BILL Northumberland.
No fords is ok!!!!
I was up at Seahouses and Bamburgh only last week with my sister, we were lucky with the weather too - bright and breezy (when is it not ever breezy... ).
Maybe UK Tiger meet 2012????
BTW, if you come down the A1 you'll pass my house. You could pitch on my lawn overnight if you like then we can go cross country (my commute to work in the old days) to the campsite. Roughly 220 miles to me then 140 to the meet.
Bob, that sounds great, I'm up for a free night's camping ( it is free innit :D )
Is the Golden Swan still on??
Cheers Bob,,,,, BIG BILL
RIGHT FOLKS!
We're in for the 23rd~24th of July. :hello2 :hello2 :hello2
The location is http://www.thegoldenswan.co.uk/ (http://www.thegoldenswan.co.uk/)
Landlord, Peter, says they can cope with about 30 for evening dinner. Ideally he'd like an idea of numbers closer to the date. I presume for getting supplies in.
Please go to http://tigertriple.com/forum/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0 (http://tigertriple.com/forum/index.php/topic,9048&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) and show your support.
So spread the word to all the Tiger owners you know and lets all pray for good weather. :XXsunsmile
Looks Like you're gonna have my company as well,
Book me in as a def
Knees in the breeze :occasion14
Been years since I attended a tiger meet so put me down.
Think it was with with Bigstippey (Jim) Graham, Preston etc round Salisbury Plain and Imber.
Tiger Rides.
I was looking at using this campsite for a trip with my 3 son's this spring but that's on hold due to my broken shoulder small world A!
