Can anybody who owns or has owned a Corbin on their Tiger - mine is 02 - tell me how exactly the backrest fits in? In this pic the steel post looks too straight? It is part #297.

My post is plenty straight. The backrest's angle adjustment happens at a pivot where the post meets the backrest.

I think you can see angle I'm describing in this pic.
