How about a pair of Diadora water proof boots size size 7.5 that I have listed on the forum for sale
Army boots are not up to it IMHO. If you go for the old all-leather ones they aren't waterproof and don't have the protection of even the cheapest of bespoke boots. Later Gortex army boots will be waterproof, but have even les protection.
If you're keeping the cost down (aren't we all??) Aldi and Lidl do bike boots in their special buy sales fairly regularly.
I'm running a pair of Hein Gericke touring boots with speed laces that I've had about 5 yrs now, done over 30k miles and are still 100% waterproof. Best boots I've ever had,
'pends on exactly what you want them to do other than just keep your feet dry.
TCX (formerly Oxtar) do some excellent boots with waterproof linings at very reasonable prices.
I normally only buy Oxtar/TCX boots, and i have never paid full price, there is always an offer on somewhere so shop around they are excellent boots.
I am now wearing Hein Gericke Rally Touring boots which cost £140 in a sale with a member discount, if you compare these boots with the TCX Journey boots which cost £200 it is obvious the only difference is the name.
Cheers Ade.
Most of the time when I ride, I wear a pair of Danners (police boots). They have nice stiff soles, are comfy and are Goretex so they are waterproof. The only real drawback to them is they are lace-ups. If it is wet and muddy, the laces get full of mud and they get messy. If I am going on an extended to tour, I have a pair of BMW All-round boots. I wore them to Alaska last year and never once had wet feet.
I like me Clubman Classic boots from this lot........

i have a pair of sidi adventure's - atleast thats what they called them when i bought them. i think in europe there called rain boots. worth every cent.
SIDI Canyon Goretex, just had mine re-soled after 4 years and over 100,000 miles, have never let a drop of rain in.
Must admit though Ive always fancied a pair of custom fitted Altberg Hoggs, but it means a Trip to Yorkshire, one day..........

I just recently bought the Acdrbis Impact X-tight:

They claim to be water tight, which I haven´t tested yet. Very comfy despite the size, very hard core and lots of protection. In addition they have a quick lock system which makes them easy to put on and off and can be adjusted while riding.
I wouldn´t go trekking in them though...
I bought a pair os Sidi courier about 18 months ago, I recommend them, a bit pricey thought £200. very comfy can ware them all day http://www.dirtbikexpress.co.uk/motocro ... urier_boot (http://www.dirtbikexpress.co.uk/motocross_boots/sidi_motocross_boots/sidi_trials_courier_boot)
I also use moto-x boots every so often, Styl martin again very good boots. not made for walking long distances from the bike tho.

I`ve had mine about 7 years now...just about broke them in  Great boot, bit heavy mind, but sturdy in right places and they hav`nt leaked :D
I wear a pair of Doc Martens industrial boots. 5 years old, and I can still ride through a river and stay dry. I'm not sure they still make the style I wear, but I love these boots.

I used to wear Docs, not for riding though. The soles always wore out in no time at all and I stopped buying them :(
I am wearing Oxtar Infinty boots, wear them every day, 4 years old, very comfortable, warm enough in winter and have never leaked once.
Altberg get my vote every time
I've got Sidi couriers, brilliant boot, think they call them adventurer or something in the states.
As to waterproof stuff, any boot will do if you use Sealskinz waterproof socks. Get the long ones, they take a bit of finding but are utterly brilliant.
Damn I need some new glasses, I was looking forward to seeing some wet weather boobs... :(

Visited Altberg on my way to Scotland last year...great shop !!
Had good luck in the past with Triumph goretex boots but lost them in the fire. Properly maintained Aerostich Combat Touring boots work well too. Worse case have some waterproof socks on hand (or on foot I suppose).
