neutral light faulty

the neutral light on my steamer is faulty,not too botherd if that was it but when this happens it wont start if sidestand is down even in neutral .think it maybe sidestand relay any ideas? :?

Common problem :)

If the neutral light comes on, the neutral switch is fine.  You will find the problem is either the sidestand switch or the sidestand relay.  There are a number of threads already started for this that include details on how to get the bike started so you can get back on the road whilst waiting for the replacement parts.
