Girly crank issues?

I was talking to a mate yesterday who has an 04 955i Sprint and he said that around 02 some 955i Sprints suffered from broken crankshafts,the starter end of the crank seems to sheer off.I googled it and it seems to be true of some circa 02 Sprints.Did the Tigers of that year also suffer as I can't see any info on it? The reason I ask is that I have an 02 Tiger!

Interesting reading but the first I've heard of it and have never heard of a tiger doing such so I won't be loosing any sleep about such.
