(edit, I just re-read my post. It's a serious ramble, I haven't had my coffee yet. sorry)   :?

All right all right. I'll give it a whirl.

I'm gonna take the alternator to my machinist buddy and have him get

the broken bolt out and chase the threads or re-tap it.

This weekend I'll get the carbs out and and check all jets and needles

and replace any worn parts. New airbox/filter, send the seat to sargent

and drop the suspension at Rick Tannenbaums house.

Replace the shifter bushings, order the lowered pegs, throw on Tag risers

and Pastrana FMX bars and I'll be ready to go. I forgot, order MRA screen from Twisted throttle.

These things sure get expensive fast.

Hmmm. On second thought I believe I'll just do the alt, carbs and filter and ride it

locally to shake it down this winter. I already put 400 in a valve adjustment.

I'd hate to dump 2 grand in it then have to part it in the spring.

Apparently I'm the 3rd owner. Supposedly the first owner was the Southeast

Triumph sales rep or some such. I'm sure he would of taken good care of it.

The second owner apparently neglected it. The exh valves had zero lash,

and until adjusted it only had 65, 110, and 85 PSI. After adjustment it jumped to

175, 180, 170. Pretty darn good. Someone had previously tried to fix the DAR and I had to drill out

the stripped lower bolt holding in the Alt.

Yep, do the little stuff and ride it this winter to make sure it's not going to keel over.

I just dropped far too many cubic buttloads of cash into this thing.

That's the DR project I just finished while the Steamer was waiting in the wings.

I've had the Steamer for ~4 months while I looked for a replacement for the XR-R.

I was just giving an example of why I'm leary of dropping more money into

a somewhat questionable bike.

got it. i would love to have a dr my self.  dont sell the tiger short, it really is a fun bike.when i got mine i was convinced it was a p.o.s.   but a few parts later - and 20000(+) mls, i love it. your's looks great in the pic's, and i think once it's running good, you will agree with the rest of us. 8)

Curvin... here's a Steamer reliability post you may not have seen...

Quote'93 Tiger - now 115,000km = 71,500 miles:
Zero oil consumption over whole life, used fully synthetic from first service, changed annually, about 7,000 km.
Engine never dismantled, last two valve checks within tolerance!
While I don't bounce off the rev limiter, I don't hang around either.
My $0.02c

Colonel Nikolai

Just want to know how it's going. If you still want to part it out (doubtful by now), I'm up for the Keihin Carbs.
Mostly commuting around town on the Steamer these days.
