I have had enough of the rear shock on my 05 Tiger....with just about 30K miles on her and the winter riding season upon us I decided to replace just the sping on the bike. Hyperpro spring in hand and spring compressors from Amazon.com I removed the rear shock and began the process.

The compressor to stay away from

The compressors afterwards

So tomorrow the rear shock replacement spring and I are off to the local suspension shop.

The email is off to Amazon to get rid of these P.O.S. compressors.

Thanks for the warning.
I used to have long hair, took acid and went to hip joints. Now I long for hair, take antacid and need a new hip joint

Have a similar set to these with the left and right hand thread.
Over the years I have given them plenty of abuse and they are still good to use.
Still have all digits too!

I took the shock to a suspension specialist and this is what it looks like without the spring. That little bit of chrome you see is tha actual amount of suspension before it starts hitting the bump stop

The technician said that he did some of the tear down and number stats for the Penske replacement shock and he said the bike just gets off the center stand and is almost already on the bump stop......dumb design??!

Some auto dealers (mine does) have equipment that makes this easy (spring removal). Might ask if they'd R & R spring for a nominal fee. Beats trying dodgy tools.
