Sounds like the 'other' one may be for generators that have to have their fields excited before they will charge.

It could be a voltage sensing wire that tells the MOSFET the battery is charged similar to how a modern bench charger works, although it doesn't need a third wire for that.  Intriguing.....

On the basis of being only able to understand every second or third word I'm sure she said it had been recently re-designed I couldn't get to the bottom of why they offer two different options,the one I went for with the extra set of connectors wouldn't be great if your a winter rider just another place for the salt to get too but it looked along the lines of the R1 R/R and if it goes tits up A. I always carry a spare and B. I'll just buy another.

Anyone reading this thread,go for the other option,the one I've had is OK but a bit of a lash up,it'll do but should have gone for other one. :icon_redface:
