First of I would like to say hello to all members :wave

I have bought a 2000 885i tiger after riding a friends and falling for tigers,  I was wondering how easy it would be to remove the alarm as I hate them with a passion I don't like the way it arms itself after a few seconds,
I am not bothered about it being stolen as its an old bike now so should be well of the radar from towrags,
it will be living in a garage and when i am out on it then it will not be left without some extra locking device.

Thanks in advance for any replies  :icon_wink:

Hi welcome to the forum from Essex

it all depends which alarm you have
this is for a tiger 955i
I think its the same for most triumphs
I have a datatool alarm
to remove it I have to set it to
Winter mode
The purpose of this mode is to enable you to leave
the machine for long periods of time with the alarm
drawing an absolute minimum current (250μA) from
the machine's battery.
In this mode the alarm system
is no longer active and it leaves the machine

immobilised only.
this allows you to remove the battery and then the alarm from the wiring loom
But you will need the triumph plug to put back in the wiring loom number 24 in picture
available from triumph dealers I think hers one hope the link works http://www.worldoftriumph.com/triumph_motorcycle_parts_locator.php?block_01=&block_02=304124&block_03=23772
by doing it this way the alarm should not sound

hope this helps
what if the hokey cokey is what it's all about

The plug is the best way.  I did a thread on here a while back about wiring a bypass without the plug, but buying a plug is much easier.

If you aren't fussy and have no further use for the alarm, you can just unplug it, but make sure you have a big hammer and a large rock handy so you can persuade it to shut the f**k up.  One thing you can't do is just take it off and put it on the shelf without following the above.  They have stamina and'll go on for days......

Which is why I said " One thing you can't do is just take it off and put it on the shelf without following the above". Your procedure is correct as far as I can remember.  In my experience, if you just unplug it it goes off and won't stop till the battery is flat or you hit it extremely hard. Repeatedly. :thumbsup

Many thanks for the helpful reply's,

So if I  follow that advice and then fit the plug number 24 this will stop the alarm all together and then it can be removed?
is the alarm also the immobiliser or is that a separate item.

Thanks again Garry

Once you unplug the alarm  it will go off, just have some rags handy to smother it or a bucket of water to chuck it in  :icon_lol:,  you never know , you could get a couple of £ for it here or Fleabay, then put the black plug in the bikes loom where the alarm was once plugged and way to go.  :icon_wink:

How do you set a datatool alarm to winter mode then?

simples read the manual   :icon_study:  :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

http://www.datatool.co.uk/home/support

seriously for a data tool s4 red

Entering 'Winter' mode
From the disarmed state, with the ignition ON
press both buttons on the
transmitter for 10 seconds until
you hear a beep, after the ignition is switched OFF the
alarm unit will go into winter sleep mode. The unit will
now be completely shut down leaving the machine
immobilised and current usage below 250μA.

Exiting 'Winter' mode
To re-activate the alarm system the ignition has to
be switched ON and the alarm will give a series of
increasing rate beeps which last for 5 seconds.
Within this time press the GREY button on the
remote control or the alarm system will trigger.
Once the unit has woken up it will come back as a
fully armed alarm/immobiliser. This ensures that if
the machine is attacked by a third party, it is fully
protected.

hope this helps

I haven't come across one that can swim yet,  a bucket of water is less effort than a hammer  :bad

The bike I bought has been of the road for a good couple of years and after a brief run I removed the temporary battery and the siren sounded for about 30 seconds then died, looks like I don't have to worry about the noise part then.
I haven't fitted its new battery yet as been doing brakes and tyres first.

Thanks again Garry
