What is the best groove setting on the needle, my steamer idles at 3000rpm

tonytiger

Or could it be the k&n filter I've fitted do I need to rejet it.? :^_^

Nick Calne

Someone intelligent will be along to help shortly.

The only thing I know is the best groove setting on a needle is 33 1/3 rpm.
Is it really an adventure bike if its wheels never see dirt?

Won't make a huge difference, just make sure all the intake joints are as tight as a duck's  :pottytrain2
I used to have long hair, took acid and went to hip joints. Now I long for hair, take antacid and need a new hip joint

tonytiger

Thanks, when it was running I sprayed some brake cleaner on the rubbers, it made
no difference to the engine speed. I'll look again at the weekend.

JayDub

are the carbs balanced?
is the throttle cable seated and adjusted correctly at the carbs?

Sin_Tiger

One last thing to check, however unlikely it might seem, is that all the choke mechanisms are properly seated. It's not difficult to nudge one out of alignment so that you have permanent choke.

Just took carbs of again, checked carbs by eye 1 carb was out of sync.
Adjusted put back on bike runs fine.

Nope, it'll be replaced by Scottish Whisky at exorbitant prices since our EU sales will suffer  :icon_razz:
