My old '95 FELIX is undergoing a ground up repaint & cleanup. After doing a test run I found that the #2 fires intermittently. New plugs, new leads & new coils have not made a difference. With rebuilt carbs & a second rebuilt set used always finding the same problem. Sometime ago I read on a 885 Steamers Facebook thread alluded to a loose connection in the CDI to wiring loom connector (sounds logical). The #2 header pipe stays cool after startup, while #1 & #3 get hot. Not remembering which wire might be faulty is why I'm asking if anyone here has any insight?

Thanks,
Ken/Fishnbiker

I know they are discrete component systems, so should be repairable. I did take some pics of the board on my old one..
If the bike is your long term keeper, a spare ecu is probably not a bad idea. Most 3 cylinder bikes of that era will share an almost identical ecu, wityh only minor differences in rev limit and suchlike, but might be a quick way to check. There are at least 2 on eBay uk for less than £100gbp and I think they are both 1290061's which are compatible with the tiger.
I seem to recal the driver transistor for the cylinder failed on somebodys a long time ago...
I'll see if I still have the pics, they may be on the forum...

Cheers, will look into those suggestions. My thoughts were toward a loose wire in the loom connector (from what I remember).
