Lions and Tigers and......Buffalos. Oh My!

What a trip!  My wife and I had planned a camping trip to Glacier National Park this summer.  We try to take one decent camping trip with the kids each year.  Van and pop up camper, four kids and hit the road.  No room for the bike.  My wife and I take turns driving and sharing the chaos of four kids.  This year my angelic wife said to me "would you like to take your bike out west?"  After I picked myself up off the floor, blacked out for a moment and wept like a child I said "ahh sure, if thats o.k. with you."  This was a gift!  This would mean that she would have to drive a mini van, struggle to stay awake without me to talk to and go insane with the "are we there yet" questions.  Thanks sweetie!!!

Have I mentioned yet today that I love this bike?  What  bike!  What a trip! About 3500 miles and I could have easily kept going. Now, I'm not much of a photographer nor an orator so I hope you enjoy my trip.  Be kind.....

This trip took my breath away.  Next, I'm on my way to Moto GP with my oldest son and immediately following the GP my wife and I are flying out to North Carolina for a business trip.  We've added a couple extra days onto it and we're renting a bike and were going to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It's our 20th anniversary gift to each other.  My wife is the best!!  Happy, Happy, Happy Man!  8)

I did a lot of hiking with my 2 year old on my back.  We were headed up this mountain side when we came across two hikers telling us to turn back.  A Grizzly and her cub were just crossing the path around the corner we were coming up on.  It makes one quite nervous to meet a bear when your kid is in a back pack strapped to you.  I'm mean, what the heck would you do if you were attacked?  We turned around.

Wow, well worth waiting for. What a great trip and some great pics. Would love to ride a bike out that way one day, won't be for a while though.

Thanks, have the GXSR but it isn't the same and I don't normally ride it in wet which is what we have mostly at the moment. Also my ribs and leg don't feel much like riding a sports bike at the moment so will have to take it easy for a while. Hopefuly the insurance wont take too long to make a decision.

Nicely done. Your report had it all, adventure, suspense(the pic of you and the buffalo has the appearance of an undetermined outcome) and (most important) a happy ending.

No doubt.  I've been out to Glacier and Yellowstone four times and none of them compared to seeing it on a bike.  Especially a bike I could take off road.  I hit some incredible back road and trail stuff that I never stopped to take photos of.  I'm pretty bad about taking photos on my rides.  I'm too busy riding.  This trip had my wife and her camera so we actually get to see some of it!  :roll:

Any where in the USA is better on two wheels ! Road trips are great , and I have the same problem as Happy . I can go 3000 miles and the camera is still in the case !

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.  I have to force myself to stop and take a photo.  It's not that I wouldn't like to remember the moment, I'm just to busy being in the moment.
