Girly forks on a Steamer?

they will bolt right in and then you can use the Girly front wheel with bigger rotor , but you will probably also need Girly calipers and a Girly speedometer sensor and I have no idea if it will even mate with the steamer speedometer

Girly speedo is driven from the ECM not the front wheel,  the front wheel sensor feeds the ECM with pulses.  Dunno if the Steamer is different?

I've just measured mine and from the top of the fork tube (not including any of the fork cap) to the centre of the spindle - as close as I can make out - 803mm.  From the same place to the end of the lower fork casing 908mm.

If you can let me know the critical dimension you're after I'll look again.

Seems theres quite a difference, my Steamer forks are 875mm from top to axle centre, and 980mm from top to bottom of fork lower.

If you are going to the length of changing the forks and therefore the speedo, (possibly the wheel, brake rotors and calipers and cables and ?front mudguard and axle and maybe tyre too) would it be worth considering using a different front entirely. say from a even newer bike. I mean, if you could say wop on the front end from a new roadie tiger, everything from the yokes down, would it be much better with upside down forks etc.

Very interested to see what can be done as I have been being idly wondering about it for a while.

Looking at photos of both bikes I suspected the Steamer'd be longer.  In the pics she has appreciably more rake.  still didn't expect that much though...

No probs.. just saw a cheap set on fleabay and thourght they might make a decent spare set... or not!!!

so, I thourght the later spoked wheels fitted a steamer...  :?:  :?
 I guess thats just the rear then?

I`ve been looking into this for a while, most of the older Triumphs front ends will fit straight in, BUT the Steamer forks are a lot longer.
Only decent option i`ve found is to fit the Steamer stanchions into different fork bottoms, which can be done by Triumphant motorcycles in Wales, just trying to pry more info out of them about what internals etc to use as they told me its a bit mix and match!
I`ve been looking at other forks from other makes, but haven`t found any that even come close to the Steamer length.

Mainly doing it to fit the alloy wheel conversion, plus upgrading the brakes, and i always like to have something different from the norm.  :)

If you're about tommorrow after work I could pop over for a quick side-by-side comparison.  with that and the Haynes book of lies, we could probably work out what's possible.  You stanchions on Girly lowers for instance?  That'll give you everything for the cast wheels.
