I love that one too. Would love to know more...
Is it really an adventure bike if its wheels never see dirt?

aeronca

the guy who ran that bike in the dakar is Ivo Kastan. interesting guy - he runs the dakar every year on something different. 2 years ago he did it on a 110cc pit bike. this year he's going for a land speed record on a monkey bike. 8) http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www. ... 3pjp0fSmVw

 ok

well, i went out to go buy meself a honda VTR. always fancied a twin so decided on one of those as an sp1 was to much to insure.
went down to the local honda dealers to see what was about before i went and bought one and saw the tiger :ImaPoser WTF is that ugly thing ? i thought and walked right past it mutterin things bout, whyd anyone want such an ugly lookin bike  anyway, walked round for a bit till the person i was with said go try the tiger ( cos they wanted to be pillion on that, not a VTR) so i reluctantly tried it, sat on it and said yeah its comfy. but it looks like poo so i dont want it, im off to look at that VTR. while lookin at the VTR one of the salesmen come over and was talkin to me about vtrs n told me the one i was lookin at had been sold, but if id like to go with him to his PC hed have a look if any of the other branches had one. so off i went. sat down with him and he was lookin throo his PC tellin me all about these bikes he can get for me to buy. how happy was i ? id finally own a vtr, it was at this point i turned my head to look at the vtr i couldnt have when i saw 2 blokes lookin at the tiger. one of em was sat on it and turned to his mate with a very happy look on his face and nodded. it was at that very moment i turned back to the salesman and said. im buyin that tiger. for some reason i didnt like to see someone else sat on MY bike. 5 mins later paper work was filled in and signed and the tiger was mine. can i say at this point that it was probably the best move i ever made regardin any kind of transport ive owned. sell my tiger ? id rather be f*cked with a barbed wire dildo by someone who used to be called derek but now hes called candy

Jeez Rybes that a truly terrifying thought.

Wonder what happened to that dakar'ed tiger?  Be interesting to know.  Maybe it's sat in the back of someone's garage, still caked in desert sand but gathering dust.....

EDIT - been googling some more and found some info on ADV in the triumph tiger picture thread..  It raced in the 98 Dakar and got as far as round 7.  It cost $45000 to put together!.
