Looks like there is a good chance that I will need another right side caliper.  I did a quick look for a used one in the US.   I didn't see anything.  Anybody have a source for used parts in the US or a source in the UK that will ship to the US?   I saw a few used calipers for the 885 on EBayUK.   I used to deal with Philip Pick (?) from Triple Cycles in the UK for the T150V and parts would show in the US within 10 days.

Does anybody know if any other manufacturers use this caliper?  I looked the caliper over and couldn't find any identifying marks.

Has anybody switched to an aftermarket caliper?  If so, which one and did it mount directly or was an adapter required for fitting?

That is good to know.  It will make life much easier in the future.  I was a bit worried the 885 calipers might be orphans.

I am told some of the Jap bikes of the same era used the same Nissin calipers, not sure which ones, Honda is a prime candidate.

I did a search on the ebc catalouge ...and the only bikes that match the steamer pad sizes are the triumphs I listed

none of the jap bikes came up with fa214 or fa215 pads .

I did a search on ebay and these hondas come up using the same pads as a steamer

HONDA VT125 XL125 NSR150 TA200 CBF250

don't know if the calipers would be a match though

NeilD

early CBR600 and super tenere amongst others have the same pistons/seals.. I wonder if its the sliders which are different which means the pads arent the same??   :icon_scratch

Hmmm, my mechanic mentioned the rear seals and pads were thesame as a Honda Phantom, 200 cc cruiser front. Might try picking his brain at the weekend, he has a pretty encyclopiedic knowledge of Jap bikes. Took one look at my brken speedo cable, :icon_scratch pronounced "Africa Twin" trotted round the back and produced an exact match
