Thinking of selling my Tiger

I bought my Tiger 800 ABS last year and, as much as I enjoy it, there is no "emotional connection" to it. I  went to the Dealer last weekend to have some maintenance done, and saw a beautiful red Thruxton and immediately had that "have to have this" feeling.

I know that it's not the same motorcycle, but I use my Tiger within a 15 mile radius of where I live. I only have 1500 miles on it!! I just use it to commute to the train station, go to my soccer games and run around town so it's not like I am going in these Alaskan expeditions.  :)


What's the best way of selling my Tiger without taking a beating? I spoke with the dealer and basically I can swap one for the other one which means I am getting $9K for a bike that cost me $12K and has barely 1500 miles on it.

Any suggestions?

Dealers always pay less than what it`s worth, they have to make money.
Try to sell privately?
Unless you don`t want the hassle, then go with the dealer, and while you`re there, try to haggle for some cheap gear or cheap servicing etc, worth a try  :)

Is it an XC or the road version .

post an ad in the flea market on ADVRIDER.com you will get some bites I'm sure .
with  that kind of low mileage if it's an XC .........you list it at 10,500 It will probably sell fast .

It's a roadie, ABS, factory center stand, tank protection, battery tender, Givi back and side cases.

The Thruxton is great fun and riding those distances shouldn't be an issue for your back or wrists. I hope you are not a shrinking violet because it will get you noticed, be prepared to spend hours talking to people    and trawling websites for farkles, there is something about them that makes you want to get back into the Cafe Racer scene that those of a certain age grew up with.

I had the scrambler version of the 865cc twin and you just gotta love that moter. About 40% over engineered I reckon. Go for ever and with the right set of pipes on one you have a bike that just sounds so right. I actually like my Tiger 955i as a capable bike, but the twins have a lovely soulful feel and rightly said that you will get all sorts of people reminissing at you about the one they used to ride.
