Where does this plug go?

When i took my petrol tank off to see that everything is in order i noticed that this plug and cable on the right handside of the engine wasn't connected to anything.

Anyone know where it goes.

the bike still starts and runs while its not connected.

This has come up dozens of times.  It doesn't go anywhere, it doesn't do anything.  It just dangles there..... :roll:
