fuel coupling replacement question

I replaced the plastic pieces in the tank and they don't screw in all the way. They don't seem to leak yet (been on a coupla hours).  Anyone see a problem with that?

They are a tapered thread and will not go all the way in.
The PTFE and the taper will seal the joint, if the joint seal was weak, petrol will find its way out immediately.

Great, thank you. I feel better about it.  Now waiting on the fuel pump to arrive. Off to grease up the iacv....
