2014 Meet in Scotland

Spoke to the owner of the lodge today, no rooms but plenty of camping space available and no need to book, I asked about midges and to my surprise he said there haven't been that many, I hope to ride Wednesday to Helensburgh to see an old friend and then on to F A Thursday morning.

Is there to be a meeting place once we get there or?, where are the majority of Tigers going to be?

Think the majority are either camping or glamping so I suggest we meet at the campsite.

My extensive research has revealed that the only place which has real ale and is Cask Marque accredited is the Bothy Bar, Canalside. http://whatpub.com/pubs/INV/29/bothy-bar-fort-augustus & http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/34/34171/Bothy_Bar/Fort_Augustus

The other option is the Lock Inn, Canalside. http://whatpub.com/pubs/INV/42/lock-inn-fort-augustus & http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/34/34178/Lock_Inn/Fort_Augustus
However, if the description in Beerintheevening is right and their beer is Tetleys I'd rather stick with the Bothy Bar. As they're practically next door to each other we can try both.

I am afraid I wont be at the meet as will be in the Alps but can definitely recommend the Loch Inn in Fort Augustus. Very nice food, cant remember what beers I had there but pretty sure they were ok.

Yes we know, myself Chairhead and others are traveling up Thursday so it looks to me that he's looking for a central meeting point that doesn't include or maybe not beer

but on which day?, I guess we will arrive on different days at different times, I haven't booked anywhere as yet but I will be camping.

Friday...mat-tiger is planning on doing Ben Nevis with his lad, I was thinking of going to Plocton, but hey well sort something Thursday night, I'll pm my email and mobile number to Thursday travelers to save clogging this space up...

I think that's because most people are going up on the Friday, anyone is more than welcome out with me on the Friday

I'm sure Sin's got something planned for the run out on Saturday, hence the meal bookings for the pub in Applecross.

I had only one planned ride on the Sat as initially most seemed to be coming up on the Friday, it's many pages back CH  :icon_wink:

Quick recap.
Sat ride out starting around 09:00 ish depending on the level of Neurofen intake, going up to Applecross via the North route for lunch between 12-13:00. Then back via the Wester Ross coast route and Loch Carron and taking in at least one Castle. Then if there is an appetite for it after a refuel in FA, North again through Inverness for dinner on the East side of Loch Ness and an evening single track run on an old military Road back to FA forithe serious stuff.
