Anyone know the difference between the RR99 and RR99H Reg Recs form Electrex World? They both appear to use MOFSET technology just one is smaller and appears to need mounting on a base plate.

Considering replacing my standard one as a safety precaution before a trip to the Alps and wondered if anyone here had chosen one over the other for any reason.

The main difference Bixxer has the one and I have the other  :icon_lol:,they will happily sell you either Bixxer's has the purple wire  :icon_biggrin: which is supposed to stop it over charging,I went for the other, there is a thread on such.

I believe the purple wire on the RR99 is superfluous from the Tiger. (Voltage sensor wire.)

Their are both posts.

Thanks Chris, should have spent a bit more time searching.

Dosent look like there is much to choose between them and as the one with the purple wire seems to be the only one in stock I wll probably go with that. My OEM hasnt failed but the voltage is just a tad on the low side so I am intending to use it as my emergency spare.

I have the Shindongen on my older Tiger, that is all hard wired and joints soldered but I dont really want to go this way again as I like the option of being able to carry a spare reg rec on european trips so that I can do a (relatively) simple change if I have problems.

Hold on there.....  fitting the purple wire if you have one is ESSENTIAL !!!!!  Regardless of which bike it's fitted to.

It senses the voltage at the battery.  The MOSFET uses that value to trim the charge level.  If you don't fit it the charge voltage will run to over 17 volts.  I know, because I recently forgot after re-fitting the battery.  Luckily I noticed the second the engine fired up so no harm done but it could've cost me a battery and a reg/rec.
