I read somewhere and wanted to confirm that the 06 cast wheel 955 forks are 1" shorter than the 02 spoke wheel bikes.

I am getting 34 1/8" from the top of the cap, excluding the hex, to the center of the axle on my 2002.

Also is there any difference in the internals of the two, once again I had heard years ago from a Triumph rep. there were improvements in the latter years.

I read your post the other day a backed off to let the guroos answer but we're still waiting.

I dunno but I read and know they made changes.

Is your measurement loaded or unloaded?  With stock springs and such?

In general I think you will find the later ones stiffened for more road oriented riding, not that the early ones are good for bad road riding, and may not brake dive as much.

I can tell you my 06 "knocks" when I hit bumps.  Makes a clunk sound like the instrument cluster is loose.  I've read that's normal.  I would prefer it softer myself.

I would assume if they are different then they are different if that makes sense.

I can almost reassure you if you start swapping stuff out and have no clue what your doing you will wish you had gone another route.

The 2004 on bikes had a different headstock angle, I don't think anyone has measured the spring length and compared. Having had a snoop around all the bikes in Wales recently I wasn't surprised to find a lot of stuff is the same from my early (00) bike to later bikes. Sorry can't help with the question

This was measured while on the centerstand.

So with a bit of load on the front? For an accurate measurement the fork should be fully extended.

brad1098

34 1/4" full extension, no weight on front wheel.

Could anyone with an alloy wheel please measure your forks for comparison.

Thanks-Brad
