Well been playing with my new to me tiger 885i and downloaded the tune ecu and purchased the cable so i can do a full service inc throttle body balance and tps reset.

I followed the online instructions and downloaded the ftdi drivers and installed. downloaded tune ecu and maps etc.  turned off my wifi and tried to connect to the bike.  little light at bottom of screen flashes red then amber then green and the screen begins to show details from the ecu/sensors, but when i press to download my map or reset tps, it just sits there.

tried removing and reinstalling drivers and not working.  can't figure this out as it doesn't make no sense why it won't do it.

just to follow up,

I unstalled the drivers etc and started afresh, just to see if it was user error.  Fresh download of driver from FTDI site (used the setup.exe file that requires "run as admin")

completed install then rebooted laptop.  disconnect wifi, plug cable in, music played to show connection.  Load up tune ecu, make way to bike and plugged in.  showed cable as com port 9 and a cable as spec'ed in user guide.

connected manually and it flashed red, amber then green.  Began showing sensor info.  clicked on ecu menu and read map is greyed out.  Left it a minute or two to see what happened, but nothing.

Started bike and it sat there at idle (actually ticking over at 930 ish) tune ecu showed sensors, but still wouldn't show read map or anything.  Can't use the diagnostic section as that is all greyed out too.

So I am not sure what's wrong with the setup.

They make a big fuss about the battery being completely and fully charged before you start doing this process. Could that be it?

Not sure. I put a new battery on when I got the bike and it's showing 12.7v on the screen via tuneecu. That's backed up with the multimeter.

Just can't seem to figure it out.  Only thing been crossing my mind is " do I need to be on the map section of the window to download the map first?"

So would not having the original map downloaded explain why i can't reset the tps or anything???  Just trying to get my head round it as I have used ecmspy for my buell and then EFI live for my dmax truck.

success, got the map downloaded and saved.  Looks like it's got the totally stock one.

I still can't seem to run the diagnostic side of things as they are still greyed out.

If you've downloaded the map you've got a sound cable, drivers and connection.  As for the greying out, have you tried changing pages?  It's not that intuitive and takes a bit of playing around and trying things to find out what works.  It took me a good while to get the hang of it as I have Tuneboy.  Pre-dates TuneECU and expensive, but much easier to use.

I'll try to get some screenshots of the screens later.  Tried to access the tps reset from all three screens so not sure at mo.

Pass the BFH please

well not had much chance to play with my bikes this weekend.

I did however get chance to balance the throttle bodies on the tiger which made a lot of difference.    when i got it all sorted. I ran the bike with the airbox off to see what the Idle Control Valve was doing and it only moved when you throttled the bike up and let the throttle snap shut.  It wasn't open (or I i am sure it wasn't) when it was trying to idle.

I did also notice when i had the idle valve off that it has been taken apart at some point so might need changing in future.

tried to get some screen shots of my tuneecu, but bloody laptop decided to have a major hissy fit and throw the USB ports for a loop.  had to remove all the ports in windows and the drivers for ftdi , shut down for an hour and then re install everything for windows to accept the cable again so i could clear the engine light for the air temp sensor and fuel gauge.

It tends to be a few minutes doing the bike and a few hours faffing with TuneECU.   :icon_mrgreen:

Seems that way.  Decided to ride bike to work today and seems ok, but idle is back up for some reason.  Also seem a little hesitate in lower rpm. Maybe forking out for the icv
