You'll probaby find in Windows 10 the smilies don't work, but while I was trying to find a solution I read about how much of a spy  :nono the "Edge" browser is.  Akin to Google's Chrome.  It turns out what Windows doesn't want you to know is you can shut Edge down and use Explorer which is lurking in the back ground. Just search for it using the Windows search function and all is well again, or at least back where you started...  :icon_rolleyes:

Use Firefox and install adblocker (not popular with forums I know) and Ghostery which monitors who's tracking you and allows you to turn it off. Some ecommerce sites won't work properly with Ghostery enabled but it's easy enough to find out which and disable Ghostery for the relevant trackers.

And I'm still using XP as it would cost me the thick end of £10,000 to upgrade all my home machines and software. No problem as long as you're sensible.

Ian, I think the ugrade to windows 10 is free. Maybe try chrome with incogneto browsing then it's private as you like. And free and it works as far as I can see.

I am still using Windows 7. I have an older computer still running Windows XP, I use it with all of the old hardware that won't work with the newer versions of Windows. I bought windows 8 thinking it was the "next thing"... I set that hard drive a side and immediately bought another Window 7 after seeing how bad Window 8 was.

So tell me, is it really worth going to Windows 10?

And what happened to Windows 9... Was it so bad that Microsoft couldn't bring themselves to sell it. :Topes

+1. Works fine for me. Not being a techno geek I can't see why they bother to change the system when it is working 'fine'. After all, they have the vast majority of the market........

PS. Ha ha, Mustang. Now I'll have to work really hard at getting back to where I was  :augie
