I have a leaky front brake seal on my '01 955i. I started looking for kits online at the usual places i.e. eBay, Amazon, BikeBandit... They have kits available for $40USD but I'm looking for 14.99£ ones like this guys sold:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-TRIUMPH-SPRINT-DAYTONA-TIGER-BRAKE-CALIPER-SEAL-KIT-T2020505-/351413526291 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-TRIUMPH-SPRINT-DAYTONA-TIGER-BRAKE-CALIPER-SEAL-KIT-T2020505-/351413526291) Yea that's a real Triumph service kit T2020505.

Please help the cheap guy fix his leaky brake. :wave

If you let it leak long enough
it will run out of fluid and stop leaking

half fixed for nothing

Have had:  Girelli Bronco 50, Honda xr70, Yamaha YZ80, Yamaha MX175, Suzuki TS250, Honda XR350, Honda XR500, Honda XL600r, Suzuki DR200, Suzuki GS1100e, Honda Ruckas 49, BMW F650GS

if they are the stock 2 pot calipers like on my 855i tiger, You can use off the shelf seal kits for the jap bikes.

you want 27mm seals.  I know they are correct as I wasn't happy with the feel on my rear brakes so stripped it, cleaned it and new seals.

i think i paid £1 per seal so worked out at £4 a caliper (2 main seals and 2 wiper seals)

I made sure to clean the outer groove well and then to put a good smear of red rubber grease on everything inc the sliders

Fattyjr, where did you get your seals from Matey? A lot cheaper than I have found them so far, mine are not pushing back in to easily so its new seals for christmas!

Well the seals for my Jap bike (Yamaha FZ 750) were #$! expensive. But other models / brands can be more affordable.

Very much agree on cleaning the grooves the seals sit in and the use of the correct brake caliper grease.

Sure the leak is from a faulty seal? Damage to a piston is another common cause.

I got mine from a local bike shop. I always try to find out the size and then ask specifically for that size.

When you ask for parts for A bike the price goes up.  When I rebuilt a set of tokico 6 pots for my sprint, I got the full kit ( ss pistons, seals, o rings, copper seals, ss bolts, ss nipples, etc) I got them from a firm called powerhouse in chesterfield. Think my kit cost me £150 as I fetched it.

Okay, Powerhouse is the same guys selling internationally on eBay at: http://stores.ebay.com/Powerhouse-Automotive-Ltd?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

Powerhouse's seal kit is one of the cheaper kits on that I have found. The Girly kit is a 27mm kit and is the same one used on the Sprint. Their eBay add just didn't do them justice. You mentioning them adds credence to Powerhouse's eBay sales.

Yea, powerhouse are a good bunch of lads. You should see their workshop. It full of old calipers off everything as the offer a good buy outright refurbed service or send yours and have them rebuilt service.

If you need a various parts sending, you can have them shipped to me and I'll combine them in one package and forward them on.  Done it for sending parts to usa and sending them back to uk. You should have seen the customs people here and in usa when I purchased a military surplus engine and sent it back here  :ImaPoser

That's a good deal when you consider you are getting enough to do both front calipers. That's $27USD plus shipping for all of the front seals. Under 20GBP not bad at all.

It's official you are the frugal one... :icon_salut:

The Tiger kit at £20 a side includes all the slide pin rubbers etc which need replacing on mine.
