Greetings and Salutations, noob here to this site!  First IÌd like to let you all know how I managed to arrive at this site:

I am a die hard DS adventure rider whoÌs play ground is Idaho, SE Oregon and North Nevada, I ride and am loyal to my KLR 650.  Well on my way home yesterday from work I swung into the Local BMW/Triumph/Aprilia dealership to pick up some winter gloves, well one thing lead to another and I took  the last remaining 06 Tiger 955i for a test ride, and IÌll be damned if that thing didnÌt find itÌs way into my garage, and to think I always wanted a Beemer!

Well I feel guilty cause itÌs parked next to my trusty KLR, but OMG what a smooth ride with an amazing power band.  This brings me to this site and my query; As a neophyte I am concerned as to the reliability of this amazing triple threat engine, so IÌm asking all you SMEÌs what is the satisfiation factor others are having with this machine?  The reason I ask is IÌve be riding for 30+ year and I remember back in the seventies

Triumph thumpers were beasts that had a lot of problems, this is not like me because I research first and I bought this Tiger on a ride and a whim.

I think with this machine I may be doing many more long road trips!

Mate you arguably just bought the best bike on the planet. !!!

Disapointment is not an option.

My DR350 is now running poorly due to not being run since I bought the Tiger.  Your results may vary (but I doubt it).

Had 0 trouble with the engine. 05 and 26000 miles, used daily all year round in uk winters. and i dont treat it lightly and allways 2 up..... ok well just me but im a fat git.

Also its mild tuned, remaped, blueflame race pipe, o2 bypass, KnN filter, 17 front sprocket.

Love the bike.
If it aint broke, I aint touched it! .........Yet!

16000 miles. I am in total awe of this engine. It seems to be still getting smoother. Fantastic linear power delivery and a really flat torque curve.

For me the Tiger represents the perfect bike - one-up, two up, commuting, blasting around, shit road surfaces - it doesn't matter, its fantastic at everything.

I have put 11,000 on my 06 in the past 8 months.  Not one problem to date.

I just want to say thanks to all you subject matter experts out there for the info provided.  the testimonials post here as to the engine reliability will let me sleep better knowing that.

After a couple of hundred miles I can attest to the fun factor as  being way up on the integer scale of fun; I think under my helmet I must have looked like the cheshire cat.  I now believe I have a name for the tiger..."Whistler"!

zombie

36k on mine as of last sunday and not even a stutter

Foxy

Passed 48,000 miles on my old injected 900, with it's inferior engine design. In that time I've had a dodgy oil pressure switch and a crankcase breather seal replaced. Both cheaply and easily fixed.

I'm with Wasions on this one, I've only put 1000 on the Fj since I got the Tiger but have racked up 23000 since June. Sometimes the FJ is a bit hard to start after sitting for a week or two.

The only problem I've had with the Tiger was due to a @#$%^ mechanic in Perth who pinched the HP quik connect fitting 'O' ring when he serviced the bike in Perth. We were very lucky it waited until Adeliade before it blew out, wouldn't have been pretty on the Nullabor

Get a good mechanic and this bike rocks!

Damn!  I thought my 11K was good for a bike bought in April.  I broke my collar bone on an RC51 in May - so that took me off the bike for 6 weeks, but damn - 23000!?!?
