fuel Hoses

I'm in the process of doing a tune-up on the 2004 Tiger. When I disconnected the fuel lines, the lower connection on the bike is still leaking (not the hose). Aren't these supposed to be self sealing when the hoses are disconnected? There was also no hose connected to the vacuum port. Should there be a hose, I'll be doing a search for one once the tank comes off.

a) Yes, the connectors SHOULD seal after dis-connecting.

b) On later years that hose was discontinued. My '02 has it. My friends '04 doesn't.
