Roulette Green (2000-2001 color), eyelashes ('01-'04 models only), wire wheels (gone in '05), 885 engine ('99-2000)...

I was going to say it's a re-engined '01-'02, but it does have the '05-'06 swingarm.  So maybe he changed out all the bodywork with that of a Roulette Green model.  But the frame's black, with '06 frames being silver... Hmmm.

He says it's a 2006.  But then he says in the narrative that it's a newly-rebuilt early-type (885) engine, which it clearly is.  But in the specs he says it's a 955, which it certainly is not.  Pretty contradictory.

Then there's the wire wheels... who knows.

It's a mystery.

Funny how the seller brags about this bike being the last real Tiger, but he doesn't even know what the hell it is!  For that matter, neither do we.  :mrgreen:

Looks like bit & bob's from at least three bikes...Like the raw cast look of the engine.  $1,400 US is not a bad price. Be sure to ride it!

Well, I left Kentucky back in '49
An' went to Detroit workin' on a 'sembly line
The first year they had me puttin' wheels on cadillacs

So the very next day when I punched in
With my big lunchbox and with help from my friends

GM wouldn't miss just one little piece
Especially if I strung it out over several years.

The first day I got me a fuel pump
And the next day I got me an engine and a trunk
Then I got me a transmission and all of the chrome
The little things I could get in my big lunchbox
Like nuts, an' bolts, and all four shocks
But the big stuff we snuck out in my buddy's mobile home.

Now, up to now my plan went all right
'Til we tried to put it all together one night
And that's when we noticed that something was definitely wrong.

The transmission was a '53
And the motor turned out to be a '73
And when we tried to put in the bolts all the holes were gone.

So we drilled it out so that it would fit
And with a little bit of help with an A-daptor kit
We had that engine runnin' just like a song
Now the headlight' was another sight
We had two on the left and one on the right
But when we pulled out the switch all three of 'em come on.

The back end looked kinda funny too
But we put it together and when we got thru
Well, that's when we noticed that we only had one tail-fin
About that time my wife walked out
And I could see in her eyes that she had her doubts
But she opened the door and said "Honey, take me for a spin."

So we drove up town just to get the tags
And I headed her right on down main drag
I could hear everybody laughin' for blocks around
But up there at the court house they didn't laugh
'Cause to type it up it took the whole staff
And when they got through the title weighed sixty pounds.

Listed as a 5-speed transmission - dunno about the UK, but in the US the 05/06 models have 6-speed trannies.   :roll:

Says it has heated grips as well, but if they're factory it doesn't look like the switch is in the normal place.

Finally, I'd be afraid of the "if it goes 300 over reserve I will include all the extras.  If not, we can negotiate when you pick her up" statement.

Hey Chris, maybe we all got screwed by Triumph and this really is the real Tiger ?  :shock:

Then again, maybe not, as the real Tiger would be the 06/955i bike with the new 1050i engine installed !   :lol:

It could be a 955i engine as described. That shape of crankcase were fitted in several models as a 955cc including the SP3 and Sprint ST but never got into the Tiger.
I think, when you actually read what the seller says, it's all there. Early 955 engine in an 05/06 frame. Alright so he said an 06 but that could just mean an 05 model first registered in 06.
Having said that, I'd be wary.

Hi Chris

I've given the 1050 in my 955 a lot of thought i can tell you,as the bits on mine will not go on anything post 04 and to be honest even if they did the post 04 have a much steeper head angle so the SM ain't an option.

As for the bike on e-bay,i don't think the guy who's selling has a clue as to what a botch up it is,that motor was a badu'n,hence why Triumph went for the smaller more reliable motor in 99,and then dumped it all together when the they'd developed the real 955.

There was a brand new Tiger rolling chassis ( no engine ) sold on ebay uk some months ago. Apparently it had been ordered by someone in France to build a Dakar type competition bike but the project never happened. Possibly this is where it ended up.

I can't believe people are actually bidding for this thing, the price today is up to £2,300 (reserve not met). You could get a whole bike for that! :D

Mr Trax, I resemble that comment.  I'd like to let you know I have a new all green 01 Tiger.  I think I will change the fairing and fender over to black.  I really got tired of cleaning birds out of my front wheel with that green front end.  I do have an 01 engine in an 01 chassis and 01 wheels.  The fairing is a 99 eyebrowless black.  Now to figure out what to do with the 72,000 mile Tiger.  I don't really need a pair of bikes plus the RS and the Norton.
