sounds like an awsome run. take lots o pics. some of the stuff the guy's were running on in the thread i was reading, was pretty wild. the one guy was horsing a ktm 950 around with out a huge amount of problems. looks like fun.

By the accounts I've read lately, most of the Tennessee portion is now paved.  But they're still way-off-the-beaten-path country roads, so that'll be cool.

And the Mississippi part is still mostly unpaved, with silt and clay soil that turns into deep slippery grease when it's wet.

I bought the maps and rollcharts a few months ago and have been going through them looking for camp sites, etc.

I'm going to try to enter the trip in my GPS to keep from having to pay so close attention to the rollchart.  It seems a lot of the turns are only a couple miles apart, and with the rollcharts there wouldn't be much room for error if I was distracted by the scenery and missed a turn or two.

I'll still run the rollcharts the best I can, but it will be good to have the GPS as a real-time backup.

I'm going to mount a bicycle computer to the Tiger to use as an easily-resettable trip odometer, which ought to make keeping track of the distance between turns a bit easier.

The rollcharts arrive as sheets of regular ol' 8 1/2 x 11 copier paper, which you then cut into strips and tape together (with a strip of tape running continuously along the backside to give the joints strength).

I'm going to make a copy of the still-uncut rollcharts that I can keep together in a map case.  That will make a day's planning a lot easier than having to scroll through four or five rollcharts.

the bike computer is a really good idea. i use a topeak panorama on my jogging stroller and its served me well for the 2,580 mls i've pushed my son around in the last 3 year(i run alot).weather resistant,tracks -milage,time,speed, and can be set up for two different bikes. i think even aerostitch sell's them. http://www.alienscooters.com/component/ ... /vmcchk,1/
