Looks like Vs. (formerly Outdoor Life Channel) is providing coverage again.  No mention of Dakar 2009 on the Vs. website, though.  Hmmm...

Interesting looking at the competitors, about:

1 Kawsaki
1 Suzuki
1 Husky
2 Jincheng
3 Betas
3 BMWs
3 Shercos
4 Gas-Gas
25 hondas
50 Yamahas
150 KTMs

This is definitely KTMs game.

They would have to build a single to compete in Dakar.  Since sometime around 1995 motorcycles were limited to 1 cyl and I believe 650cc.

REGULATOR

was that to keep the speeds down?

cause the Cagiva elephant I rode was FAAASSSTTT for a big ole dirt bike

had a Ducati V twin in it If I remember correctly ( just 1 test ride)

fano

Oh, what a beautiful bike it was

and that Steamer

REGULATOR

would love to have either..

I just remeber blasting down a dirt road at over 90mph and feeling like I was only doing about 50mph
