Honestly though, my hypothesis would be that people that ride Triumph ride for different reasons than most American riders and those that choose that style of bike.  I'm not cutting it down, it's just a different market and one that in tough times can be set aside as a luxury.  A purchase for a better economic time.  I don't ride because it's a luxury.  I ride Triumph!  8)

You're probable right Happy.  Triumph make a broader range of machines to cover several market segments, as opposed to the niche HD build their concrete pumps for.

And thou the report is good news for our marque, in the UK, I don't think they'll be pushing any of the big four out of play.... they'd be a long way from that in total production terms.... :lol:  :lol:

All my life I have tended to be on the side of the underdog.

When I decided to buy a new 1050 (I was already riding a Varadero) I had nagging and severe misgivings that I was performing true to form and that I had missed something in my + - analysis.

The one thing I couldn't shake was the grin from my face after a test ride  :lol:  all self analysis went straight out of the window there and then, I had to have one and when a Steamer was put in my path I barely gave it a second thought.

If this thread had a vote, I'd vote we send a congratulatory letter to John Bloor and Triumph  :icon_salut

Being an American Servicemember, former US Marine and currently In the Army National Guard, I get called some pretty serious names and experience vitriol of all sorts for never having purchased a Harley-Davidson. I've had all sorts of epithets thrown at me, such as Unpatriotic and turncoat. I don't ride cruisers and I need a little more oomph in a bike. I believe I am being very patriotic in NOT supporting a company that won't step up and build to (what SHOULD be) American standards. Harley-Davidson is a disappointment and an embarrassment to the United States. I refuse to help my fellow countrymen to continue on an embarrassing path. I would buy a Harley-Davidson, but the Harley I would buy does not exist and probably never will.
John Bloor is one of my all time heroes. He shares the list with the likes of Ronald Reagan, Joe Arpaio, Ben Franklin and my father. I salute Triumph and heartily wish them (and Mr. Bloor) the same kind of success in the United States.  Go Triumph go!

Same here taz. Until Harley builds a bike that I find worthy, I'll not have one. Their decision to drop Buell so that they could "concentrate on their core business" shows that they plan to continue making the same boring and underpowered cruisers.
