Shock question

On the original steamer shock, how much static sag should there be?

Or how far can you push the back of the bike down?

My rebuilt shock has arrived and i reckon its way too soft.
 :(

If the back is too loose, tighten the spring retaining nuts.  The shock just stops oscillation and slows travel; the spring does most of the work.
